Advice for language subjects

In general, we strongly advise students who are majoring in the School's programmes to combine language and culture courses in their planned degree, rather than concentrating simply on language or on culture. This is because of the dynamic mutual relationship between language and culture, which means that a full understanding of one is not possible without a sound understanding of the other.

Students are also advised in the first instance to check both the general and specific regulations:

Fuller details for each course, including the name of the respective course co-ordinator, can be found by following the link "Courses, Subjects and Qualifications" from the UC homepage, through the "Courses" links of the individual subjects on this School site, or through the following link:

Students should also check with the respective Subject Coordinator, particularly if they are unsure as to entry point (for those who already have some knowledge of their chosen subject). Subject Coordinators will also be able to advise on matters such as career options and combinations with other subjects. Course co-ordinators are also available for consultation.
