About the School
Welcome
Welcome to the School of Languages and Cultures. The School currently offers degree programmes in Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish.
In addition to languages the School also offers related culture courses, and stresses the importance of the mutually influential relationship between language and culture.
The School is proud of its range and diversity. Its goals include the advancement and dissemination of academically rigorous knowledge in its fields of language and culture, and thereby it aims to contribute positively to the growing internationalisation of our age.
History
The School of Languages and Cultures was established in September 2003 from a combination of the three former departments of Asian Studies, French and Russian, and German and Spanish. From January 2009 until January 2013 the School also incorporated Linguistics.
